O Suicidal Tendencies é uma das bandas preferida na Evoke. Desde o início da marca, em 2001, Mike Muir, Mike Clark e companhia foram trilha sonora constante do nosso QG e sempre curtimos o estilo chicano e reconhecemos a importância deles para o hardcore e para o crossover – basicamente, eles inventaram a mistura de hardcore com o trash metal, que viria influenciar bandas no mundo todo, como Anthrax, Corrosion e Ratos de Porão. E nós somos realmente uns malditos sortudos.

Essa semana, o Suicidal, que irá lançar em breve o primeiro álbum de inéditas dos últimos 12 anos, veio a SP para tocar na Virada Cultural e resolveu gravar parte do seu novo clipe, Cyco Style, em um lugar que a gente conhece bem: a Evoke! Pra completar, vieram acompanhado do Pep Williams, skatista e renomado fotógrafo de L.A. que é uma referência pra gente. Não temos mais muito o que dizer, só que a nossa tarde de terça-feira foi incrível. Curte as fotos aí.

Mike Clark, Dean Pleasants, Josh Peden, Jimmy e o produtor Shawn London do SUICIDAL TENDENCIES se sentiram em casa e fizeram questão de organizar em um dos quartos do hotel que estavam hospedados uma tattoo party, onde a Evoke trouxe o tatuador e membro da Famiglia Markone para tatuar os caras, que se sentiram honrados e homenagearam a cidade de São Paulo ao tatuar a sigla SP em forma de tag. Mike Clark, Dean Pleasants, Josh Peden, Jimmy, and producer Shawn London, from SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, felt as if at home and just threw a tattoo party at the room where they were lodged in, to where Evoke brought tattoo artist and Famiglia member Markone to put his work on them, who felt honored and paid a tribute to the city of São Paulo by tattooing the initials SP in tag form. Respect is something you don’t buy, you earn it.

O festival Maquinária Rock Fest que aconteceu nos dias 17 e 18 de maio no espaço das Américas em São Paulo foi uma das maiores reuniões de bandas lendária que ja se viu em São Paulo e lotou a casa de fãs e seguidores fiéis de bandas como Misfits, Suicidal Tendencies, Biohazard, Sepultura e muitas outras.

O Evento que contou com uma produção de som e um investimento em aparelhagem que a tempos não se via, foi muito elogiado pelos próprios músicos que disseram estar totalmente empolgados pela qualidade sonora. Confira as fotos de Zé Gabriel:

O Sepultura veio logo depois com o peso e a atitude de sempre levando o público ao delírio com as músicas do último álbum DANTE XXI e clássicos como WAR FOR TERRITORY e consagrada versão de ORGASMATRON do Motorhead. A banda teve como destaque além dos riffs pesados, rápidos e únicos de Andreas Kisser e o vocal furioso de Derrick Green o novo baterista Jean Dolabella que substituiu Iggor Cavalera em grande e alto estilo e que pela primeira vez se apresentou em São Paulo.

Na sequência entrou uma das mais esperadas bandas da noite, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES com todo o gás e agressividade característicos da banda que foi precursora do movimento hardcore skate punk nos anos 80 e que literalmente quebrou tudo tocando clássicos como POSSESSED TO SKATE, WAR INSIDE MY HEAD, SEND ME YOUR MONEY e muitos outros no melhor estilo Cyco, interpretado por Mike Muir e Mike Clark, Dean Pleasant, Josh and David.

Como se não bastasse toda a energia despendida, chega a vez de BIOHAZARD a lendária banda de NY que em reunion fez uma apresentação lendária com todos os integrantes originais e deixou os fãs enlouquecidos com a fúria, o peso e a impressionante presença de palco de Billy, Evan, Danny e Bobby onde tocaram seus maiores clássicos como PUNISHMENT e a maioria das músicas do disco URBAN DISCIPLINE.

Outras bandas que mereceram destaque além do SUICIDE CITY, banda nova liderada por Billy Graziadei do BIOHAZARD, que mostrou muita atitude, energia e originalidade, foram as brasileiras Ratos do Porão, Sayowa e Lotus que representaram o Brasil em alto e bom som.

Atitudes como essa de realizar um festival com tantos nomes de peso e com tanta qualidade de som demonstram que apesar de todas as dificuldades e empecilhos de nosso país ainda existem aqueles que acreditam e lutam pela preservação do bom e velho ROCK. EVOKE MAQUINARIA – HISTORICAL MEETING OF BANDS IN SP

The Maquinária Rock Fest, held between May 17 and 18 at Espaço das Américas, in São Paulo, was one of the greatest meeting of legend bands ever seen in São Paulo, packing the house with fans and faithful followers of bands such as Misfits, Suicidal Tendencies, Biohazard, Sepultura, and others.

The Event, which counted on sound production and investment in infra-structure above the average in Brazil, was praised by the musicians, who told to be really stoked to play due to the sound quality. Check out the pics by Zé Gabriel:

The first major band performing was The Misfits, leaded by Jerry Only, taking the crowd into frenzy with its classical hits.

Sepultura came right after with their usual heavy sound and attitude, also making the crowd go nuts with songs from the last album, DANTE XXI, and classical hits such as WAR FOR TERRITORY and the famous version of Mothorhead’s ORGASMATRON. One of the highlights, in addition to the heavy, quick, and creative riffs by Andreas Kisser and the furious voice of Derrick Green, was new drummer Jean Dolabella, who replaced Iggor Cavalera with great style in his first performance in São Paulo.

Following the schedule, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, one of the most waited bands of the night, got on stage with their energy and aggressiveness, characteristics that made the band one of the pioneers of the hardcore and skate punk scene in the 80′s, literally putting the house down with classical hits such as POSSESSED TO SKATE, WAR INSIDE MY HEAD, SEND ME YOUR MONEY and so many others in the best Cyco style, interpreted by Mike Muir and Mike Clark, Dean Pleasant, Josh, and David.

After all this display of power, legend band BIOHAZARD, from NY, came in reunion and made a historical performance with all members from the original set, driving the crowd crazy with the fury, attitude, and impressive stage presence of Billy, Evan, Danny, and Bobby, who played their greatest hits, such as PUNISHMENT, and most songs from album URBAN DISCIPLINE.

Other bands that deserved a special highlight, in addition to SUICIDE CITY, new band leaded by Billy Graziadei from BIOHAZARD, which showed great attitude, energy, and originality, were Brazilian bands Ratos do Porão, Sayowa, and Lotus, representing Brazil in great style.

Attitudes like this one, of promoting a festival with so many renowned bands and such sound quality, prove that despite all difficulties and challenges faced in our country, there are still those who believe and fight for the preservation of the good and ol’ ROCK. Congratulations to Mac, Theo, and Didu for the attitude. Respect is something you don’t buy, you earn it.
