Flanar: perambular, caminhar sorvendo a vida da cidade. Planar: voar sem propulsão motora, vôo livre.
Flanador é a primeira exposição individual do mineiro Binho Barreto, atualmente residente em São Paulo. São 8 pinturas e 22 desenhos.
O trabalho vem dividido em 3 séries:
cenas urbanas pintadas a partir de fotografias tiradas pelo próprio artista, personagens que são construídos com retalhos de imagens da internet (com procedimento similar ao do retrato falado) e depois pintados, e desenhos. No traço característico do artista, se destacam os tipos urbanos sob uma ótica lúdica e irônica.
Toda a exposição circula em torno do tema da liberdade _ora sua ausência, ora seu uso_ e seus reflexos na vida nas cidades.
“Volto o olhar para a tradição da pintura, desde a produção do período entre romantismo e impressionismo (onde estaria o início da arte moderna) até o realismo contemporâneo, que aparece no uso de processos digitais de tratamento de imagem e questões que permeiam a atualidade. A influência da “street art” se dá através do olhar que busca certos lapsos poéticos na praticidade das ruas.
Na cidade do século XXI, as cenas urbanas aparecem como se refletidas em manchas de combustível no asfalto ou em um sonhar acordado. Os retratos de personagens ficcionais têm no olhar um certo “senso de vazio”, um niilismo urbano. Nos desenhos o lúdico e o irônico se misturam em traços definidos e cores duras.” Binho Barreto.

Flanador is the first solo exhibition of artist Binho Barreto, originally from Minas Gerais and currently based in São Paulo. The exhibition has 8 paintings and 22 drawings. The work is divided into 3 series: urban scenes painted from photographs shot by the artist, characters built-up with fragments of images from the Internet (with procedure similar to that of mug shots) and then painted, and drawings. Urban types under a playful and ironical light are the main themes of the characteristic lines of the artist.
The entire exhibition has freedom as its theme _sometimes its absence, sometimes its use _ and its reflections in the life of the cities.
“I put my eye into the tradition of painting, from the production that occurred in the period between romanticism and impressionism (where the modern art begins) and the contemporary realism, present in the usage of digital processes for the treatment of image and current issues. The influence of street art happens through that eye searching for certain poetical lapses in the functionality of the streets.
In the city of the 21st century, urban scenes appear as if reflected onto sports of fuel on the pavements or as onto a waking dream. The portraits of fictional characters have a look with a certain “sense of emptiness”, an urban nihilism. The playful and the ironical are mixed together in the well-contoured lines and solid colors.” Binho Barreto.
