Da onde vem o nome El Ninõ?
O nome El Nino veio do Chris, que queria usar um nome que falasse em qualquer lugar do mundo e remetesse ao nosso Universo, o Mar.
Também porque tem esta história de Nino, menino, O Menino, Jesus Cristo!! Afinal foram os pescadores do Peru e do Equador, que deram este nome ao fenômeno de aquecimento das águas do pacifico sul, que manda correntes desta água quente, e invade o hemisfério norte do planeta provocando reações diversas no clima.
Como isso acontecia sempre perto do Natal, eles diziam que era o Menino que estava chegando novamente.
Como foi a transição do surf para a música?
Esta transição do surf pra Música foi muito natural, pois eu ja venho tocando ha muito tempo, mas a transição da profissão surfista pra profissão Músico, é que foi mais complexa, afinal tudo é diferente no meio do processo, mas esta adaptação está sendo harmonizada pela presença do Chris, que sabe muito bem conduzir um aluno e uma banda!!!!
Quais as influências do El Ninõ?
As influências são diversas, passamos por influência do Rock, como Led Zeppelin, mas também somos fãns do Jack Johnson e do Ben Harper que o Chris tira bastante de suas inspirações, pois ele toca a mesma Viola Havaiana que o Ben, (Weissenborn). Mas tiramos muita coisa da MPB, e também de uma cara novo que se chama Pete Murray!!!Este é mais na minha influência de cantar, pois ele usa técnicas que me encantam. Poderíamos enquadrar a banda num destes segmentos da música, porem teríamos que chamar de “Pop Rock Soul Acústico, com influências da MPB, hehehe”. Ficaria difícil de explicar, por isso não temos como evitar a expressão “Autentico Surf Music” pela prática que temos com o surf e o fato de termos como tema nas nossas músicas as inspirações vindas do mar!!!
Quais os planos para o futuro? (cd, shows, tournes?)
Os planos já estão acontecendo, estamos fechando com o Ronaldão, que foi empresário de estrelas da música como Kassia Eller e Zelia Duncan. Estaremos com a página no My Space ( El Nino Oficial) e lá você poderá baixar as faixas “Responsible” e “Espírito do Mar”. O CD está sendo negociado com algumas gravadoras que pediram sigilo, mas em breve estaremos nas lojas também.

Why the name El Ninõ?
The name El Nino came from Chris, who wanted to use a name that would be spoken in any place of the world and associated with the Universe, the Sea. Also because of this story of Niño, boy, the Child, Jesus Christ!! After all, fishermen from Peru and Ecuador named this phenomenon, when southern Pacific warm waters send currents of this hot water that invade the Northern hemisphere of the planet, provoking several changes in the climate. Since this would always occur around Christmas, they used to say that the Child was coming again.
How was that transition from surfing into music?
This transition from surfing into music was very natural because I’ve been playing for a long time, but the transition from being a professional surfer into a professional musician has been the hardest part, since everything is different in the process, but this adaptation is being well managed by Chris, who knows a lot how to guide a student and to run a band!!!!
What are the influences of El Ninõ?
The influences are so many, we have influences from Rock, like Led Zeppelin, but we also like Jack Johnson and Ben Harper, and a lot of this comes from Chris’ inspirations, since he plays the same Hawaiian guitar of Ben (Weissenborn). But we also play lots of MPB, and also this new guy called Pete Murray!!! He is one of my inspirations in singing, the guy uses techniques that amaze me. We could frame the band in of these segments of music, but we would have to call it “Acoustic Pop Rock Soul with MPB influences, hehehe”. It would be hard to explain, reason why we don’t have how to avoid the expression “Authentic Surf Music” for our involvement with surfing and the fact that our songs are inspired from the sea!!!
What are the plans for the future? (CD, shows, tours?)
The plans are already going on, we are closing with Ronaldão, who was the manager for music stars such as Kassia Eller and Zelia Duncan. We will have our page on My Space (El Nino Oficial), where you can download the songs “Responsible” and “Espírito do Mar”. The CD is being negotiated with some studios that asked for secrecy, but soon we will be on the stores.
